the story is told in the first person point of view. the most important point of view in the story is emily's mother. she is remarried and she is a mother of five children. however, in the story, she speaks emily, her first child. through her words, we can percive how it is that the mother wanted a better life for emily. but, as dhe sees it, lige is difficult for them because they are poor and they face some other negative experiences.
