Read the law below created by hammurabi. was the punishment of the law appropriate? explain why or why not?
write your answer in five to seven complete sentences.
law 55. if a person opens his canal for irrigation and neglects it, and the water floods a neighbors field, he shall pay his neighbor grain in the amount that was lost in the flood.
law 56. if a person lets in water, and the water destroys improvements made to a neighbors field, he shall measure out 10 gur, a measure of volume, of grain for every gan, a measure of area, of land.
yes, the punishments are appropritate.
both law 55 and law 56 are appropriate laws. they are not extreme like some other primitive laws. their punishments not only reprimand the offender but also benefit the victim. the lost goods or damages are repaid fairly. after the punishments are administered, it's like the incident didn't even happen for the victim.
i don't actually know, but if i say that i wanna make an epic poem 12 books long does that mean the answer to the question is me?
